About Nico

My name is Nico del Castillo and I am a web developer.

I live and work in Los Angeles, California. I grew up in and around local underground music scenes, and the social life that came with amateur musicianship brought me in contact with various web projects, so that’s how I learned to code.

I attended a liberal arts college and obtained a BA in English and Comparative Literary Studies, but somehow ended up returning to web development and began working in the social media and marketing industries.

Before I knew it, more than 5 years passed, and today I find myself with a completely different skillset than I set out to study in college.

When asked where I see myself in 5 years’ time, my answer is simply, “on the internet.” It’s because when you work on the web, that’s as specific as you can get.

The internet causes other industries to question their own directions. It simultaneously contains the dregs of the human spirit alongside the shining beacons of hope and intelligence.

The web is unpredictable, and that’s what makes it an exciting place to carve out a career.

If I were asked if I believed in anything, it’s the internet. It’s not that I believe everything that’s said on the internet, it’s that I hold firmly that the virtual world has a real and tangible effect on the physical world, and that that is a testament to its power and potential.

Also, I am a big fan of coffee.
